I love heavy metal music! And while it has the reputation for having subject matters involving sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, demons and other scary stuff, a significant number of songs tackle more serious issues, such as the horror of war, inequality, racism, and other social matters. These songs range in style from Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” to Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality to Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name Of.” At this event, to take place at the church, I’ll share some of my favorite metal songs with a social conscience, providing some background along the way. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
