Reverend Christina Neilson joined Southwest Unitarian Universalist Church in August 2002. Raised in Minnesota, she received a BA in Theatre at St. Cloud State University, a BS in Nursing at St. Mary's College in CA., and MDiv. at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA. Starr King School is a Unitarian Universalist Seminary that inspires a unique Religious Education philosophy that emphasizes the maxim, "We teach by who we are." She discovered Unitarian Universalism while seeking a liberal theological church that emphasized our interconnectedness to all life and things.

Chris's style is developing worship is eclectic, creative and shared with the ministry of others. All of our voices and talents are needed to heal and transform ourselves and society. We welcome you to join our diverse, lively and creative community.

Ellen has served as the music director for SWUU since 1990. She has a B.M. in Composition from Baldwin-Wallace College, and plays piano and flute. She also writes original music for piano and voice for performance in our church services.

The music at SWUU is an eclectic blend of many styles and periods. Classical, jazz, blues, and folk music are all heard regularly. The music is as varied as our services, and is selected to reflect and enhance the theme and tone of each Sunday’s service.
