On Sunday,October 27, SWUU will prepare and serve a shared meal for the people at
Urban Hope on Lorain Ave. in Cleveland. Urban Hope is a storefront location that
continues to bring a Unitarian Universalist presence to Cleveland’s Near West Side. Our
church has provided their Fourth Sunday Meal in April and October for many years.
We usually arrive at Urban Hope around 3:00 to set up and socialize with the
guests, serve the meal and socialize some more beginning at 4:00, and leave around 6:00
after dishes are done.
There are plenty of opportunities for you to volunteer by serving the meal, chatting
with guests, baking a casserole (recipe will be given), making a salad, baking or buying
desserts, and buying and washing fresh fruits such as bananas, grapes, apples, pears, and
berries.
Many people choose to donate food and bring it to church the Sunday the meal is
served for others to transport to the Urban Hope storefront. Check out the Sign-Up lists
that will be posted in church soon.   Come join the Social Justice Committee
for the fun and the experience!
