Community Focus Collection

For SouthWest Unitarian Universalist Church

North Royalton, Ohio

  Home

Since the spring of 1999 our church has committed the offering on the first Sunday of each month to an organization which puts into practice the principles which we affirm.  The organizations who have benefitted from our Community Focus Collections are too numerous to list but the following community organizations have been recent recipients:

·        Transitional Housing (temporary housing for formerly homeless women)

·        Berea Community Dinner

·        Berea Minister’s Emergency Relief Fund

·        The Berea Animal Rescue

·        Interact Community Food Pantry

·        Safety for Animals and Families in Emergencies

·        The Homeless Stand Down

·        The Hunger Network

·        Interact, an inter-faith coalition

In addition to the local organizations our focus collections raise money for the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) every December. UUSC supports humanitarian work throughout the world with emphasis on human rights and social justice. In the past few years we have contributed to the Unitarian Universalist Association marketing campaign and given assistance to a flood damaged church in Findlay and to Hurricane Katrina relief. We also have a focus collection for a Helping Hand Fund to provide financial assistance to friends and members of our congregation in need.  Our focus collection organizations vary somewhat every year depending on the needs of the community
